The idea of establishing the School History Museum emerged back in the 1990s, but it was only realized in 2001. The inauguration took place on May 25, 2001, during the Bethlen Days celebration.

Such a museum was necessary because the past of the College, along with the memory and respect for our predecessors, compels all of us to preserve the history of our school in an organized manner.

The museum was set up in one of the vaulted rooms of the Kis-kollegium, the oldest building of the current complex, constructed in 1775.

Most of the museum’s materials were discovered in the old supplies room of the College. Old documents, photographs, albums, commemorative books, and newsletters were found. Newspaper announcements and a city-wide collection significantly contributed to gathering the museum materials. Due to limited space, only about half of the collected items were exhibited.

The old documents, historical publications, photographs, former school supplies, and the works of our school’s teachers attest to the value of the College’s past and present.

Dintre vechile echipamente didactice de fizică, vizitatorii pot vedea materiale demonstrative din secolul al XIX-lea:

O curiozitate a muzeului este o scrisoare de reclamație datată din 1928, care a fost descoperită în anii 1980 în timpul lucrărilor de renovare ale vechiului colegiu (Ó-kollégium).

În anul 2006 muzeul a fost renovat și extins cu o sală de clasă care evocă secolul al XIX-lea. Băncile vechi, catedra și albumele amintesc de trecut.

Datorită lui Xantus Gábor, în muzeu a ajuns o parte din instrumentarul medical al cunoscutului fost elev al Colegiului, cercetătorul Africii, Sáska László.

O „relicvă” păstrată cu grijă este pământul adus de la mormântul lui Fenichel Sámuel din Noua Guinee. Cutia valoroasă a fost adusă în 2008 de Xantus Gábor cu ocazia expediției sale în Noua Guinee, de la mormântul lui Fenichel Sámuel.

Muzeul de Istorie Școlară este o atracție nu doar pentru foștii elevi, ci și pentru oaspeți și pentru turiștii care vizitează școala. Acest fapt este confirmat și de cartea de oaspeți a muzeului.
